About this DV Project
The Open-Source Psychometrics Project website offers many different statistical personality tests and exists to educate the public about various personality tests. One of its tests, Statistical “Which Character” Personality Quiz, is an interactive personality quiz which can determine the similarity of your personality with a wide range of fictional characters through statistical correlation.
The dataset used for this DV project is the dataset on the fictional characters' assumed personalities. These data on fictional characters' personality spectrums are obtained from ratings of respondents who are familiar with the fictional work. Hence, the dataset consists of information regarding a character, fiction series source, gender, mean and standard deviations of ratings across many personality spectrums.
The Data Visualizations
Using the dataset by Open-Psychometrics, DVs are created to learn more about:
the composition of the fictional characters dataset,
the personality spectrum distributions across characters,
and the correlations of personalities between different characters.

The website exists to educate the public about various personality tests, their uses and meaning, the various theories of personality and also to collect data for research and develop new measures. It is under continuous development and new tests and information are being added all the time.

Open-Psychometrics also aims for the promotion of open source assessments and open data. A number of open source measures of popular psychological constructs have been developed and are made available under a creative commons license on the website.

At the end of every personality test, users are asked if their data can be saved and used for research. The anonymous data that this yields can be downloaded from the data page. This data has been used in 25+ journal articles.
